Guild Wars 2 - The Golden Rules of ArenaNet

Ben Miller, Game Designer working on the creation of Guild Wars 2, ArenaNet MMORPG expected from netgamer spasmodically, has published a statement on the official website that talks about the golden rules that set guidelines for the implementation of the game.

The first rule is to create a virtual world, which in a completely specular with respect to the real one must be dictated by the choices and from the case, so as to avoid that sense of boxed leading inexorably to boredom and then abandoned by the players. In addition to creating real ecosystems that are able to coexist harmoniously, has created a true story based on which all previous alliances, or hostility, geopolitical nations that make up the game world. All this translated into great prominence by the personal story of each character.

The second rule requires real collaboration between team-mates, and the intent of the developers is to eliminate the various elements of friction, such as research resources, which can wear down even the groups rehearsed.

The third key point is the user interface, which should be a help not a hindrance to players, ruining the game experience.
The fourth rule is based on the necessity of having to introduce innovations, even taking risks. Certainly not the usual practice in the stale world of MMORPGs.

The fifth rule, perhaps the most famous in absolute terms is one that reminds everyone that if you start to do something you have to finish it, but above all it grabs, or is best left to lose. Needless to add more words to a concept so simple and direct. Honestly, as seen to date, Guild Wars 2 fully reflects this concept.

The sixth and final rule, a reminder for all programmers that players deserve their respect: their will in the end, spending both time and money, enhance, or critique, all their work.
