Cosmetics: marine ingredients in increase to the detriment of the ecosystem

The alleged new elixir of youth? They come from the sea and are used for the production of cosmetic products "natural" only in name, but in reality very little to the environment. The beauty secrets of the moment would result from the use of shells, fish and fish eggs, shells, plants coast, sea mud, algae and minerals, which are used for the construction of the formulations of creams "miraculous."
Attention, therefore, the power of marketing related to beauty products. Compounds in cosmetics with ingredients of marine origin may not be present really effective ingredients, such as shark cartilage, which, in addition to cosmetic properties, were attributed anti-cancer properties, not related to a real beneficial effect, but to a ride billionaire businessman.
The massive use of ingredients in cosmetics from the coasts and waters of seas and oceans unfortunately risks jeopardizing their delicate ecosystem. The cosmetics industry, having identified this new direction for the manufacture of its products, however, would not give it up, which is why some of them have decided to turn to methods suitable for marine ingredients they need.
According to the study by Organic Monitor report, the cosmetics industry is more careful they would be already turning to alternative producers of marine ingredients, derived from farming systems and aquaculture. However, it remains to understand if what has been obtained by such systems is to be considered truly effective and does not give rise to cosmetic products actually very little performance, but simply unable to attract the public and easy to sell.
Due to the growing demand from the cosmetics ingredients of marine origin, a new focus on the supply of these resources has been raised worldwide, so much so that on 21 November in Paris will be discussed at the Forum for Sustainability in Cosmetics, which will focus on the environmental implications of the use of ingredients of marine origin and best practices implemented by companies more careful.
Some of them, for example, can make use of algae created in the laboratory, as already occurred in the United States, a practice which allows to avoid the removal of the same from the seabed, obtaining algae rich in vitamins and minerals, suitable to be used by the cosmetics industry, which is hoped to embark on a path that is truly sustainable and environmentally friendly.
